This page explains how to delete everything Your World holds about you. That includes your house on the globe and anything from Sign in with Instagram.
How to ask
- Message us on Instagram. From the account that has the house, send @yourworldglobe a message that says "delete my data".
- Can't message from that account? Message us from another account with the username that has the house. We will ask you to comment a short code on our latest post from that account, so we know it is yours.
If you signed in with Instagram
You can also stop Your World getting anything more from your Instagram account. In the Instagram app, open your profile, tap the menu, then go to Settings and activity, Website permissions, Apps and websites. Find our app and tap Remove. Instagram moves its menus now and then, so the names may be a little different.
Removing the app stops new access. It does not delete what we already hold, so please also send us a request as above.
What we delete
- Your house: your username, country, city, comment text, comment id, post, time and day.
- Any comments of yours that named no country.
- Our record of the welcome message we sent you.
- Your entries in the daily lists on the server that makes our episodes.
- Anything from signing in: your username, your Instagram account id and your sign in session.
- Our message conversation with you, once your request is done.
What stays
- Your username on our "do not add" list, with the date. This is what keeps you off the globe: any comment you make later never builds a house. If you ever want back in, tell us and we will take you off it.
- Episodes already posted on Instagram. A posted video cannot be changed. If an old episode is a real problem for you, tell us and we will look at it.
- Our list of comment id numbers already read. It has no usernames in it. It only stops us reading the same comment twice.
- Your comments on Instagram. They belong to your Instagram account. You can delete them in the Instagram app.
How long it takes
We do it within 30 days, usually much sooner, and it is free. Once we remove your house, you are out of every new episode, and the live map drops you within a few minutes. We reply to tell you when it is all done.
